What you're about to read is a collection of pointers to some of the music I've discovered on the iTunes Music Store, music I like enough that I want to share it. If you're an iPod owner and an iTunes fan (and if you aren't, what are you doing here?), maybe you'll find something new. Click on any of the CD covers to bounce over to the store and sample a few tracks. And then maybe stop by my other blog for a few well chosen words (and maybe a random snark or two).RSS feed

Final Straw / Snow Patrol
Over on my other blog, I wrote a piece a few days ago about a lecture by Malcolm Gladwell. The subject was how human nature works against things like focus groups and product testing. One of his examples concerns a study where subjects were asked to pick a poster they liked. When subjects were told they'd have to explain their choice, they chose differently. The reason, at least according to Mr. Gladwell, is that they lacked the vocabulary to explain their real preference. So they changed that preference to one they could articulate.

I mention this because I don't have much to say about this album except that I like it. I think I like it because it reminds me a little of Donovan. But not all that much. Maybe I just like the low key nature of the performance. Or maybe not. The point is that I like them. And if your taste is anything like mine, you might too.

Oh, and one other point: I have a feeling this isn't the only album I'll write about here where I'll be completely inarticulate. Isn't it a good thing the iTMS lets you sample for yourself? Heck, how does anybody choose music from words on a screen? You gotta hear it, right?
